Chapter 13

I am dead. I had a great time at Devon high school. I am happy with the life I lived and I was happy with all of the friends I had, especially my best friend Gene. Gene and I were always good friends and we were always there for each other. Gene and I had some ups and downs, but we were really good friends, and nothing got in the way of that, not even the accident I had at the tree. Gene and I were climbing up a tree and we were going to jump off the tree, and Gene shook the tree, and I fell and shattered my leg. At first I thought that I lost my balance, but Gene told me that he shook the branch, which caused me to fall. At first I didn't believe it because I didn't think that he would ever do anything like that. Then I eventually find out that he did cause me to fall off the tree. Once I found out I was in Devon in Dr. Carhart's office with a lot of people and I was shocked and upset when I found out, so I ran upstairs and fell. When I fell I broke my leg again, and I was mad at Gene. He visited me to bring my stuff to the infirmary room, and he said that he was sorry for everything that had happened, and I accepted his apology. When he left, something went into my bloodstream which caused my heart to stop, which I caused.

Chapter 12

I am back in the hospital room, and my leg is broken again. During the night Gene was sneaking into the room, and I fell out of the bed. I tried to accuse him of trying to break something else, but he stops himself from coming into the room, and he apologizes and leaves. Gene brings some stuff to me in the infirmary, and I told Gene that I tried to enlist to many military branches, but that they all declined me because of my leg. I told Gene that the reason I didn't tell him this was because I didn't want to start a war with him. I start crying and then I ask Gene why he wanted me to fall off the tree. Gene said that there was some crazy thing that made him jump on the branch. I told Gene that I believe him and I forgive him. I was happy to know that Gene was being honest with me and that he seemed upset telling me that he caused me to shatter my leg. Dr. Stanpole comes into the room and tells Gene that he has to leave, but that he can come back to visit after Dr. Stanpole is finished.

Chapter 11

I was glad that Gene returned to Devon from his vacation. I was in the middle of a snowball fight, and I invited him over. Gene asks me why I use a walking cast, and I told him that my bones were healing. I told Gene that I do believe in world war 2. I started believing in the war when Gene told me that he had caused Leper to lose his mind. If something can cause someone to lose their mind, then the war must be real. I told Gene that Leper was hiding was behind the bushes that morning. A bunch of people came into my room and told me what happened when I fell off the tree, and I told them that I lost my balance and fell. I told them that Gene was at the bottom off the tree, and Gene agreed with me. Gene and I were sent to Dr. Carhart's office that morning, and they were accusing Gene of making me fall off the tree. It go me angry, so I told everyone that I didn't care what happened, and I ran out off his office and I was crying. As I was running up the stairs, I fell down.

Chapter 10

Gene left with Leper to hang out with him. I hope that Gene and Leper have a good time in Vermont. I am really impressed with Gene and his progress. He really is a good athlete, and it seems like that he is having a good time. I am really happy that I am training Gene to help him become a great Olympic athlete. I am happy that I am back at Devon helping out my best friend become an athlete. Gene has been my best friend throughout Devon. I am happy that he is becoming an athlete for me; He really is a good friend and a friend that I can trust. I am glad that I have a friend like Gene; I don't think that anyone could take his place. Gene is everything a friend could ask for, and I am glad that I am his best friend. I am glad that everyone is treating me the same before I shattered my leg. He deserves to have a good time with Leper. Once Gene returns to Devon, I hope that he still has his mind on becoming a great Olympic athlete. When Genes returns, I still plan on spending time training with him.

Chapter 9

Brinker joined us in the middle of Genes training, and he was distracting Gene, so I told them to leave, and they both left to the butt room. I didn't want Gene to be distracted at all by any of his friends while I was training with him. I wanted Gene to be a great olympic athlete, so I was spending a lot of time with Gene, and all we were doing is training for the olympics. Gene was doing really well and I wanted that to continue. Gene was going to be a great athlete one day if he continued to train with me and keep his mind on what he was doing. I wanted to show everyone that Gene was going to be a great olympic athlete one day so I arranged something for everyone to see. I decide to stage a winter carnival. I danced for a while on my good leg and everyone seemed impressed. I told everyone that I arranged this because of Gene, and I wanted to show everyone how athletic he was. The crowd was very impressed with Gene too. I am glad that I arranged this winter carnival because it seemed like everyone had a good time.

Chapter 8

When I return, I joke around with Gene about his clothes. I am just really happy to be back at Devon high school. The next morning, Brinker stops by and says that he wants to enlist, so I give him a nickname, I called him the yellow-peril. Gene and I were talking and I told Gene that winter is my month, and he knows this. I told Gene that we should cut class and go to the gym. I asked Gene what team he joined because he said he would do sports because I was unable to. Gene says that he didn't try out for any teams. I told Gene that there was no war between us. Gene asked me if anyone has talked to me about the accident, and I told him no because they didn't want us to think about the accident. I told Gene that I wanted him to do an olympic sport. I told Gene that I would train him and tutor him, and I am surprised at the progress that Gene was making. Gene was running a course around the headmasters office and he was doing very well, and Mr. Ludsbury tells me that we couldn't train here and I told him that we were going to train here, then he left.

Chapter 7

I was packing my bags to bring to devon, and I was really happy that I was going back there for the first time since last year. I am hoping that everyone still remembers who I am, and that everyone will treat me the same. I am very happy that I am out of those 2 hospitals. I am also excited to see how everyone reacts on how I am back at Devon, and of my leg cast. I am hoping that everyone tells me about their year and how happy they are this year. I am hoping to hear a lot of stories from the guys about this school year and the summer. I am hoping that everyone had a good time, and didn't think about me and my injury too much. I am glad that I am out of that leg cast, and that I can walk on both off my legs again. I am also hoping that I will get accepted into a military base somewhere. I hope that Gene and everyone else are doing well, that is all I want to know, I just want to know if my friends are having a good time. As I returned to Devon high school Gene walked into the room.

Chapter 6

As I got out of the hospital, I wanted to go back to Devon and see all of my friends. When I got home I went back to Devon and I was hoping that the room I was in was the same room I have always had. When I entered Devon, I asked Gene if I was still his roommate, and he said yes. I was glad to find out that Gene was still my roommate, and I told Gene that I would have been upset at him if he had another roommate because we have been best friends throughout high school and he knew that I was goig to come back. I wanted to make sure that Gene wasn't still crazy because when he visited me in the hospital, he said that he caused me to fall off the tree by bouncing on the branch. I asked Gene how school was going and how life was. He said that he was trying to be an assistant crew manager. I was upset when Gene told me about that because I thought that he didn't need that and that the job wouldn't help him. I told Gene that he was going to do sports for me because I couldn't.

Chapter 5

When I woke up, I was in a hospital room. The doctor told me that I took a hard fall, and that I shattered my leg. I was feeling better and the doctor allowed visitors' to visit me, and Gene stopped by. Once he stopped by, I wanted to talk to Gene about the accident. Gene asked me about the accident and he asked me how I thought I fell off the tree. I told him that I probably lost my balance. I told Gene that as I was falling that I reached out to him, hoping that he would grab my hand. As I was falling, I really wanted Gene to grab my hand to prevent me from falling. Gene told me that he was trying to grab me as I was falling, but that he was unable to. Gene also asked me how I think I might have lost my balance, and I told him that he was probably the reason. Gene said that he was about to tell me some terrible news, However Dr. Stanpole walked in and sent Gene out. The next day, the doctor tells me that I will be going to be taken on an ambulance to Boston because he doesn't think I'm ok to have visitors. When I'm in the Boston hospital, Gene comes to visit me, I am very happy that Gene decided to visit. After I asked him about his summer, He tells me that he shook the branch so I fell, and I couldn't believe him. It really frustrated me when Gene told me this. After we sat there in silence for a while, I told Gene that I would return to Devon by thanksgiving.

Chapter 4

When I wake up, I go swimming in the ocean. After I finish swimming in the ocean, Gene and I decide to go back to Devon. Gene was upset that he failed a test, but I tried to make him feel better by playing a game of blitzball with him. That night Gene and I were talking, and I told Gene that he works too hard. Gene denies that, but I know that he wants that he wants to compete with me. Gene asked me if he had better grades than me, and I was joking around with him, but I told him that it really didn't matter if he had better grades than me. I went up to see Gene and I told him that Leper was going to jump from the tree to become an official member of the Super society of the summer session. I want Gene to jump off the tree with me so he can be an official member of our club. As we get up to the tree, I told Gene that on the count of three that we were going to jump off the branch. As I was about to say 3, the branch snap and I landed on the ground in a lot of pain.

Chapter 3

I made up a game called blitzball. I convinced all of my friends to play the game. I invented this game because I didn't like all of the other sports games that we played because I didn't like their rules. I found a medicine ball lying around, and we decided to use that as our ball. When the person has the ball, they are the target, and when they have the ball they can get tackled. As the game went on, I was making more rules as the game went on. I also like blitzball a lot because in the end, There really is no winner. One day Gene and I decided to go to the swimming pool, and I decided that I wanted to do the 100 yards freestyle and see if I could beat A. Hopkins Parker. After I finished the race, I beat his time by .7 seconds. Gene was so proud of me and wanted to tell everyone, but I didn't want him to tell anyone. I decided to go to the beach with Gene. When we were at the beach, I talked to Gene about how great a friend he is, and that he is really happy that he is his best friend.

Chapter 2

Gene and I had to go to summer school to get our education. Mr. Prud'homme is mad at both of us for skipping dinner last night. I tried talking to Mr. Prud'homme about not punishing us for skipping the dinner, and I succeeded. I decided to wear a pink tablecloth as an emblem of celebration of the first allied bombing of central Europe. Although you won't supposed to wear pink because it was disrespectful, Finny usually got away with anything. I also wore a tie as a belt and that was also disrespectful. Mr. Patch-Withers was the substitute headmaster, was embarrassed that I was wearing a tie as a belt. I think that in the war that "we ought to bomb the daylights out of them, as long as we don't hit any women or children or old people." Mr. Patch-Withers didn't discipline me for saying those things about the war. Gene and I walked along the river and I was talking to Gene about the bombing in central Europe, and I think that they really didn't bomb Europe. The rest of the group and I decided to give ourselves a name and we called ourselves "Super Society of the summer session."

Chapter 1

Dear journal

I went back to visit my high school for the first time in fifteen years today. I went back there with my friends Gene, Leper, Chet, and Bobby Zane. The high school is called Devon and the high school is in New Hampshire. I wanted all of my friends to jump off a tree and land in the river. We did that a lot back when we were in high school. I wanted them to do it again because I wanted to remember what it felt like. We all climbed up the tree. When they got up to the tree, I jumped into the river first, and once I came up from the river, I remembered how exciting it was back then, and I was proud of myself for jumping from the tree and into the river. I wanted all of my other friends to jump from the tree and into the river, but Gene was the only one that jumped. I thought that Gene was ashamed that he had to jump into the river. I wrestled Gene after he got out of the river, but then we stopped because he wanted to be on time for dinner. On the way back to our room, I was teasing Gene about him wanting to be on time for dinner.
